Master and Commander

The exciting new movie based on the famous novels by Patrick O’Brian, called “Master and Commander” will be premiered at Gunwharf Quays on the night of November 17th.

The films leading star is Russell Crowe, who visited HMS Victory in Portsmouth’s Historic Dockyard before beginning filming of this epic tale of southern seas adventure.

Portsmouth has been chosen to host the premiere because of its maritime history and naval connections with Nelson’s navy and the Napoleonic Wars, in which this film is based.

The premiere starts at 8:15pm on November 17th at the Warner Village Cinema in Gunwharf. Some of the profits from the evening are expected to go towards the Royal Navy Museum, which can be found inside the dockyard itself, next to HMS Victory.
